Exploring One of the World’s Greatest Universities
There is something about excavation sites and ancient ruins that always intrigue me. I have visited the site of Nalanda University in Bihar several times and each time, it leaves me spellbound. What used to be one of the greatest universities in history and an architectural masterpiece is now just stacks of bricks. The ruins just lay in front of you, compelling you to imagine the university in its pinnacle of glory days.
Located about 88 miles south east of Patna, Nalanda University was one of the world’s first residential universities. There is nothing that can bring back its lost legacy but the ruins surely take you back in time, giving you a glimpse of an era gone by.
